Manny Gamburyan: Happy to be out of that House
December 20, 2007
“There were 16 dudes in the same house. I’m from LA. I go out every other day. There’s always something to do: partying ,clubs, and lots of things. Imagine being used to living like that and then being stuck in a house with 16 dudes. One day you’re eating with them and the next day you’re fighting them. I don’t even wanna remember that.”That quote you just read was stated by a contestant on
The Ultimate Fighter 5. If you had to guess what round a fighter who didn’t want to be there was eliminated in, what would it be? First round? Second round? Wrong on both. This fighter made it all the way to the finals, and that fighter is Manny Gamburyan.
Gamburyan, who lost in the finale of TUF 5 to
Nate Diaz, is back on December 29th as he takes on Nate Mohr. It’s his first fight since his loss to Diaz, a loss that occurred when his shoulder popped out of place. It was an unfortunate way for the fight to end, but Gamburyan says “it’s all good.”
“I had that shoulder injury for a long time,” Gamburyan said. “I never thought my shoulder...

GSP HUGHES IS WORLDS BEST
December 20, 2007
GEORGES ST-PIERRE has called Matt Hughes the best welterweight in the world ahead of the pair's clash at UFC 79.
The two men square up for their third meeting Inside the Octagon in Las Vegas on December 29.
And French-Canadian St-Pierre was full of praise for the man he beat at UFC 65 last year.
He said: "I'm fighting the best welterweight in the world - Matt Hughes.
"He's sharper than ever, he's better than he's ever been and I truly believe it's not the last time that he's going to be around or the last time we'll be fighting each other.
"I fought him twice before - he beat me once, I beat him once and we're both different fighters than we were last time."
St-Pierre, 26, claims he has worked hard to re-focus on his game after Matt Serra defeated him for the welterweight title in April.
He added: "I made a mistake against Serra. I let my personal life get into my job - it was the first and last time that it's going to happen, I can guarantee that.
"I have a Plan A, a Plan B and a Plan C for this fight.
"That's how...

MIKE ''THE COUNT'' BISPING DROPS TO MIDDLEWEIGHT
December 19, 2007
Considering the UFC’s middleweight category is ruled by the iron fists – not to mention knees – of arguably
the world’s greatest fighter in Anderson Silva, you wouldn’t think too many mixed martial artists would be queuing up to enter the 185 pound division in 2008.
However, just weeks after the announcement that Dan Henderson will be returning to what many feel is his ideal fighting weight, light
heavyweight contender Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping continues the injection of new blood into the middleweight ranks.
The drop down has been a long time coming for the British striker. While other top light heavyweights walk around at over 230 pounds when not in training camp, Bisping, one month and many hearty meals removed from fighting at UFC 78 in New Jersey, weighs only 211 pounds.
“Even though I’ve never fought at middleweight, I’ve gone back and forth with the decision to go down pretty much my whole career,” Bisping said. “Even from my very first pro fight (April 2004), people were telling me that I was a little too small for the light heavies. But I kept winning and, at least before I stepped up to the UFC, I was winning...

Chuck Liddell Great Moments
December 19, 2007
What separates a champion from a contender, a star from an average Joe scraping out a few dollars here and there on the club fight circuit?
In a lot of ways it comes down to what a fighter does when
faced with challenges that would make most crumble. And even though a fighter won’t always win in these situations, how he learns from adversity will shape who he eventually becomes.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell is one of the
sport’s legitimate superstars; what were the seven defining moments of his career?
1) Kevin Randleman – May 4, 2001 – UFC 31Result – Liddell KO 1When Liddell entered his bout with former
heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman in Atlantic City, he was seen as a solid contender, but also one who was expected to be a stepping stone for ‘The Monster’, who was making his UFC debut at light heavyweight. Liddell had other plans, and there was no denying the fight ending power or quiet charisma of Liddell, who would hence be known simply as ‘The Iceman’. And this time it wasn’t just a catchy nickname; it was a warning of what Liddell could do to you...
